When you sign up with Publisha you automatically get a website at http://username.publisha.com which you can use straight away with no set-up required. However, if you prefer to have your own domain name, you can do this on our paid plans.
If you’re not technical it might be best to get a techie friend to help you with this, because it can be a bit fiddly, but here’s what to do:
You start by buying a domain name, something like www.MyNewSite.com, from a domain registrar. If you’re in the US you could try GoDaddy or pairNIC. If you’re in the UK, try 123-Reg. This will cost around £5-£20 ($10-40) per year .
Then follow the registrar's DNS instructions to point the domain's A-record (IP address) to 173.45.245.87. You only change your domain or sub-domain's A Record, not its nameservers. You don't need to forward or redirect anything, you must only change the A Record.
As the last step, come back to Publisha.com and go to your magazine. From the menu choose Settings, then General Settings, then go to the Custom Domain section and tell us which domain name you’re using (eg www.mymagazine.com). You do not need to enter the initial http:// part of your domain name.
If you’re struggling please email us at support@publisha.com and we’ll try to help you. Please note that domain name issues can sometimes be pretty tricky and fiddly, so you might get a quicker answer if you can find a tech-savvy friend to help you out if you run into problems!
